"Exalting the Savior, Equipping the Saints & Evangelizing the Sinner"

    Ephesians 4:10-15

He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: That we [henceforth] be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.

Ministerial Reflections - Sunday, July 10, 2011

"What is the meaning of these stones?" (Joshua 4:6)  Is the question posed by the young Israelites of the elder Israelites.  History, experiences and knowledge are to be shared generationally.  Recognizing the wisdom behind the stones, our late Pastor, The Rev. Dr. Drew E. Marshall, saw the need within our congregation and in the community at large for a symbol that encouraged generational sharing of history, experiences and knowledge.  He also saw the need for the men of Trinity to make a positive impact on the lives of boys as they approached manhood.  With Deacon Bruce Stewart as its director, SIMBA was formed.

Meditating on God's Word

SIMBA is a male mentoring program focused on helping boys 8-18 years of age develop into strong men; emphasizing Christian values and excellence in secular achievements.  Sessions are fun and interactive, designed to equip the boys with skills, knowledge and tools to meet societal challenges from a point of strength with understanding and to do so in a manner that pleases God.

Today, "SIMBA's Rite of Passage Ceremony," recognizes the boys who participated in the 2010-2011 phase.  We not only salute the boys who have completed this magnificent year, but also the men of Trinity who have dedicated their time to create and present this rich curriculum.  The mentoring men of Trinity include:  fathers along with their own sons; men who have fathered their sons into manhood, SIMBA alumnus and men who do not have sons, but realize God has given them knowledge and skills; which as a man of a community and most importantly a Christian, they are required to share.

Please pray for the continued growth of this ministry and all participants.  SIMBA meets from October to May annually and all Trinity men are encouraged to work together to continue this legacy of Dr. Marshall and support this world-effecting ministry.

We salute Deacon Bruce Stewart, Brother Herb Drayton and each mentor of this program.  "To God Be The Glory."
