PASTORAL REFLECTIONS
REFLECTIONS OF DR. DREW E. MARSHALL
SUNDAY, September 7, 2008

We live in a world where poor judgment and undisciplined lives have led many individuals to places of great sorrow and regret. Decisions made without godly consideration and outside of God's will have left lives throughout the Christian community in ruins.
Far too many Christians find themselves entangled in negative circumstances. They are, through their own failure to obey God and live according to His Word, in places of moral and spiritual depravation. These individuals are now viewed as social outcast and many are now separated from the rewards of the positive and productive lives they once enjoyed.
Unfortunately, contemporary believers are finding themselves in a type of spiritual exile. Because of their failure to live according to godly principles God has allowed them to enter into places of spiritual darkness.
They live in places never intended for them by the Creator. They have lost respect, positions, influence, finances, public offices, pulpits, families, friends, and careers because they failed to prioritize Christ in their life. They went forward in their own zeal ignoring the principles of godly living.
For every Christian who now lives with negative consequences in a place of seemingly spiritual exile there is good news. The Gospel message is one of hope and restoration. Christians must never forget that Israel was a sinful mess. Israel's exile was the result of the most mismanaged blessings ever given to humanity. Yet God favored Israel with both forgiveness and restoration. Wherever you are in life today God still desires a relationship with his followers. God's grace always affords another chance. God is always seeking to win back the believer who loses his or her way. Christians must never give up on themselves, and more importantly their God. No Christian should ever allow a chapter of negative circumstances and actions to be the end of their life's story. Christians have the wonderful grace of God to make restoration the best chapter of their life. With God restoration becomes reality!
